UnumPod Privacy Policy
How the UnumPod app handles your data. Last updated 11 October 2026.
The short version
UnumPod contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code and sends nothing about you to us. It needs no account, your library stays on your device, and anything it syncs travels only through your own iCloud account. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
The UnumPod app
UnumPod is our podcast and internet-radio player for Apple devices — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch, with CarPlay support and a home-screen widget. It is built to keep your data yours:
- It contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, uses no advertising or hardware device identifiers, and sends no usage data to Unum Solutions. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
- It does not require an account, and there is no Unum Solutions server behind it.
- Your library — subscriptions, playback positions, bookmarks, notes, playlists, downloads, listening stats, and settings — stays on your device. If you turn on sync, that data travels only through your own iCloud account and is stored on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy terms, so it stays in step across your devices while remaining invisible to us. The only identifier involved is a random, per-install ID used to merge changes between your own devices; it is not tied to you or your hardware.
- To play a show, UnumPod fetches feeds, audio, and artwork directly from each publisher's servers, which see your IP address and may log the request under their own policies.
- To search for and discover shows, the app queries podcast directories — primarily Apple's (iTunes Search and top charts), plus Podcast Index and fyyd — directly from your device, sending only your search terms. If you turn on the optional Live Radio beta, it likewise queries public radio directories (such as Radio Browser, Radio Garden, Get Me Radio!, iHeartRadio, and Jamendo) directly. Those providers may run their own analytics or tracking under their own privacy policies; nothing about those requests is sent to Unum Solutions.
- If you download an episode, UnumPod can align its transcript using Apple's on-device speech recognition — the audio never leaves your device. New-episode and download alerts are local notifications generated on your device (there is no push server), and background feed refresh runs on your device.
